Campaign Turn 2 Summary

24/2/2016

If the first turn was an Axis triumph, the second turn was a Soviet come-back. All along the front, the Germans and Italian attacks were stalled and pushed backed. In the west by Red cavalrymen who stoutly did their duty in a rain of metal and traded blood for victory, although the Italians suffered many casualties as well. In the fight around the Stalino West Station, our two new commanders battled it out in a frenzy, resulting in one of the bloodiest fights we ever had (happens easily when you are new to CoC!). A light BT-tank was the game-changer here. In the east the Soviets counter-attacked with heavy armor (we have a special rule that allows one counter-attack against a platoon that recently won an patrol or attack/defense scenario on each "column", the Soviets used this at their first opportunity). With similar or less casualties for the Soviets and victory all along the line, this was very much a turn for the Red Army! Next turn we will se if the Axis can pull off their counter-attacks to reverse the situation or try to do it without them.

Here is a map depicting the positions after the second campaign turn:
