Our efforts to prepare for Mediterranean battles is turning into a bit of a group effort, as both British infantrymen, Free French Legionnaires and Allied armoured formations are taking form.
Finishing a platoon is just that much easier if you are several people working at once, even if half the time is spent chatting and not painting!
Personally I've been tasked with the job of preparing the mighty British (and occasional Free French!) tanks. The plan is to mass produce the lot, and hopefully I will figure out colour schemes, and how the markings work, by the time the tanks are prepped for painting.
We largely based our purchases on two factors: what would be reasonable options for what we plan to start with (Sicily and Italy), and which vehicles would give us the most options, both in armament and in support costs. No need to buy four very similar tanks on support list 5, the first thing you do!
With our initial roster ready, there'll be a sad lack of Crusaders and Matildas and other lovely desert tanks, but I would be surprised if these are the last ones we get. Here's a small sneak preview, as I got started on adding stowage to tanks for the first time. I'm a bit anxious not to mess it all up, but hopefully the aid of some reference photos will keep that from happening.
A Sherman and a Wolverine getting some sandbags for extra frontal protection after hearing about the wild west shoot-outs in our Stalino campaign. I plan to build some wooden ammo boxes too, to put on the back of them.
