This battle was played by two beginners to CoC, who have joined up in the fun after the campaign kicked off. I think both have played a fair amount of 40K, and I assume that this shows up in the body count Here I will try to describe some of the action, mostly in pictures, because I was not there. I am merely a scribe, forwarding some rumors from the chaotic field of battle. This battle were fought at the Stalino West station, since the first encounter at this column ended in a draw. The Central Column of the campaign appears to stand out by the high attrition rate for the forces involved. The Soviets lost six men in this bloody battle, while the Germans lost 18 riflemen plus one Senior Leader, two NCOs and one Medic. The "man of the match" for the Red Army was split between Gorodniansky, the BT-5 commander and the sniper Izikaev (of who there exists no photo, but he is credited with killing two German NCOs, and so far this makes him the far most efficient sniper in the campaign). The other snipers have caused some Shock on enemy squads, nothing more, so I think we need to set up a "Izikaev´s Sniper School". What puzzles me most about this fight are why the Germans retreated towards the warehouse and not further into the woods? Maybe just a try to hold the platoon together? Anyhow, this caught them in a field of death! At the blog/Shirty Note from Jonas: this reminded me of our first games of CoC. It is a game that can require a bit of caution, as a poorly positioned squad can take a lot of casualties, quickly. I still remember deploying a squad in what appeared to me to be a good place (heavy cover behind a stone wall), only to be mercilessly mowed down with no good path of retreat.
